Softening old breakout marks is a slow craft - here is why we do not rush it

The marks a past breakout leaves behind rarely shift in a single visit, and that is not a shortcoming of the treatment - it is how repairing skin works.

Not one mark, but several

Post-breakout scarring is really a group of different things, and they do not all behave the same way:

  • Textural marks that feel raised, pitted or uneven to the touch
  • Discolouration where a spot has healed, reading pink, red or brown depending on your skin tone
  • Indented or shallow scarring where breakouts were deeper or kept returning
  • General roughness left over from past congestion

Because each of these reads differently and settles on its own timeline, one approach applied to everything tends to disappoint. The useful thing to know is that softening texture is gradual by nature - skin remodels slowly, so marks are eased over time rather than erased at once.

Why we take it slowly, and privately

At our Seddon rooms, care begins with a private consultation rather than a set treatment. Registered nurse Nqobile Nhlebela (AHPRA NMW0001572477) - fourteen years of nursing and Curtin University training, now focused on skin - looks at the type, depth and pattern of your marks, talks through how your skin heals, and sets honest expectations. Scarring is softened, not removed, and results vary from person to person.

From there she outlines a considered plan, including home care and sun protection. Gentler in-clinic steps such as LED light therapy may sit within that plan as one supportive part, never a standalone fix. Our methods are designed with AHPRA and TGA in mind, and suitability is always confirmed individually.

There is a calm to doing this properly - unhurried time to understand your scarring and skin texture before anything is suggested. That is the Opulence approach.

If old breakout marks have been on your mind, the clearest first step is an honest look at your skin in person.
