Collagen thread consultation at Opulence Aesthetics

Collagen threads are fine, dissolvable threads placed under the skin, designed to work with your skin’s own collagen response as they gradually break down. At our Seddon clinic in Melbourne they are offered only after a private consultation, and are considered for skin quality and early laxity as part of a wider plan.

What are collagen threads?

The threads we use are made of a dissolvable material that the body breaks down naturally over time. As they dissolve, they are designed to support the activation of your skin’s own collagen in the treated area — responses differ from person to person, and your nurse will be honest about what threads can and cannot do for you.

The thread options at Opulence

  • Mint mono threads — fine, smooth threads placed to support skin quality and firmness. $15 per thread; a typical session uses around 20 threads (from $300).
  • Screw (corkscrew) threads — spiral threads often considered where a little more support is wanted. $20 per thread; a typical session uses around 20 threads (from $400).

The right type, number and placement of threads is decided together at your consultation — never sold as a package upfront.

What to expect

Thread treatments are a higher-care procedure, so suitability, comfort, risks and recovery are all talked through first. What to expect:

  • a private consultation and assessment before any treatment is planned
  • a session of about 30 minutes once a plan is agreed
  • some tenderness, swelling or bruising in the days afterwards is common; responses vary
  • clear aftercare and recovery guidance, and honest information about risks, before anything goes ahead

Who are collagen threads suitable for?

Threads are not right for everyone — certain health conditions, medications, skin types or expectations may make them unsuitable. Care begins with a private consultation with Nqobile Nhlebela, our Registered Nurse (AHPRA NMW0001572477), who assesses you, explains the benefits, risks and recovery honestly, and only recommends threads if they genuinely suit you. Results and how long they last vary between individuals.

Frequently asked

Do collagen threads hurt?

A numbing option is generally used for comfort. Some tenderness afterwards is common and usually settles over a few days, though responses vary. Your nurse talks you through comfort and aftercare before anything is planned.

How long do the threads last?

The threads themselves dissolve naturally over months, and how long any supported change lasts varies between individuals. Your nurse will give you an honest picture at your consultation rather than a promise.

How many threads will I need?

A typical session uses around 20 threads, but the right number and placement depend entirely on your skin and goals — that is decided together at your private consultation in Seddon.
